Amazon cyber Monday finds for the RVer
On this cyber Monday we’ve found some great products and deals for RVers on Amazon. While we always try to seek out locally-owned businesses to support wherever we can, there are just some things on Amazon and other web-based retailers that catch our eye.
In fact there are a few items on this list that are provided by small businesses and fulfilled by Amazon. Here are the 17 things we like that you can find on Amazon.
Books
We have spoken with a few authors who also happen to be RVers. We’ve read all their books and really, really like them. In fact we have an article on great things to read while camping.
Here are a few of our favorite authors who are also RVers. Many of these stories also involve camping!
Karen Musser Nortman has several series of books. Karen is an RVer herself whom we’ve interviewed on the StressLess Camping RV podcast. Karen has several book series:
The Time Travel Trailer - a 1937 camper that turns out to be a time machine. The antics the subjects get into can alter their own future - and are very entertaining.
We absolutely love the Frannie Shoemaker Campground Mysteries. This ten book series involves Frannie Shoemaker who travels with her husband and others. Somehow when Frannie’s around, things go haywire and she and her husband have to solve the mystery.
The Mystery Sisters is a four-book series where sister travel around in their vintage Studebaker. Of course trouble ensues wherever they go and they have to solve the mystery. Another good series!
Our friend Nick Russell has also written a number of series. As a former full-time RVer Nick knows his travels and has also written several guidebooks. We interviewed Nick Russell as well for the StressLess Camping RV podcast - you can hear that here.
Nick has several guide books on Arizona
The John Lee Quarrels is an 11-book series surrounding a Sumner County Sheriff’s deputy and the things he runs into in the small Florida town including some pretty entertaining members of the local sheriff and more. These are quite captivating books.
Nick lived near the setting he has for his Big Lake series, a 21-book series. These are a little less gritty than the John Lee Quarrels series, but are equally captivating. There are some fun characters in this series whom the sheriff of Big Lake has to deal with.
We have a number of authors whom we’ve spoken to. Here are a few whose works you might find enjoyable:
Marc and Julie Bennett from RVLove have written several books and share some stories with us about the writing process as well as their own works on this episode of the StressLess Camping RV podcast.
Author, hiker, boondocker and adventurer John Soares has written a number of books on boondocking, travel, hiking, adventuring and more and we get the low down and some great tips in this episode of the StressLess Camping RV podcast.
We speak with Nathan Pettijohn about his inspiring first-time RV adventure with his dog Hafa and the book he wrote inspired by that journey on this episode of the StressLess Camping RV podcast.
Driven to Wonder author Michael Boyink shares his stories, tips and thoughts about spending eight years on the road with his family. He talks about starting and ending the journey and even how he redefined worship on the road. Further, as introverts, he speaks to finding community on the road. The book is a compendium of over 100 adventures with beautiful pictures and is an enjoyable read.
Learning to build your adventure habit and be an untourist with Ordinary Sherpa founder Heidi Dusek. She has literally written the book on family adventures and Heidi talks about ways you can have an adventure near or far. You can meet her on this episode of the StressLess Camping RV podcast.
Campground Games
There are so many games that we enjoy while camping. There are a few rules including the fact that the games have to fit into a cabinet or closet and be relatively light. Oh, and of course, be a lot of fun.
We found ten games you can play while camping and many of these are available on Cyber Monday special pricing. These can also be great stocking stuffers.
Jackery Solar Generator
There are a lot of choices with these portable power stations. We were given a Jackery 1500 to try a while ago and we’ve found a bunch of uses for it since then. In fact, we’ve even used it to power our entire RV last year.
We have the story of the Jackery Solar Generator here. They are also marked down for Cyber Monday so, if you’ve been thinking of getting one of these, this might be a good time to do so.
Tank Treatments
We’ve spoken to a couple of RV holding tank experts for the StressLess Camping Podcast. Most recently, we spoke with Jeremy Kin from Thetford about the science behind RV holding tanks. It was pretty fascinating, quite frankly.
We know a lot of you have winterized your RVs already so holding tanks are far from what you’re thinking, but this is something we like that’s on Amazon.
The RV kitchen
Coffee and Camping
Literally the most popular page on this website is the one where we share this terrific coffee solution for RVers, especially those who love boondocking. This simple, inexpensive way to make coffee is as good at home as it is on the road and is absolutely boondocking friendly.
RV cookware
We continue to be impressed by this RV cookware, which has followed us through four RVs and is as solid as the day we bought it on Amazon. These nesting pots are very high quality but take little space in your RV. In fact, we like these as much as we do the high-quality commercial pots and pans we have in our home.
Blender
One of the easiest ways to get into the doghouse is to buy your spouse a blender. Unless that spouse is an RVer in which case this portable battery-powered blender offers surprising performance and is really, really convenient.
Ice Maker
The perfect companion to the battery-powered blender that we like so much is this portable ice maker. These things are surprisingly efficient and deliver first ice really quickly. And, if you don’t have power at your camp site but still want ice, the Jackery we mention elsewhere in this article might be the other companion.
Rodents and other pests
Rodents
We have been fans of the Grandpa Gus rodent repellants for years. We’ve always parked our trailer in places where the rodent population was significant and we have never had an issue with rodents in our RV.
This time of year this is especially critical as the little critters seek out shelter from the cold. An RV is the perfect place and we like this method of keeping them out.
There are a lot of RVers who have stated that Irish Spring soap bars and dryer sheets are effective and they’re just not.
Mosquitos
You might be as thrilled as I am that there really aren’t mosquitos bugging you at this time of year. But they’ll be back, unfortunately.
Since mosquitos absolutely love me I have tested all sorts of repellants. The one that seems to work best for me is the Thermacell mosquito repellant.
We have a whole section of the site with links to our favorite mosquito and critter repellants here.
RV Basics
We created an Amazon Idea List of all the basic items we think are essential to the RV lifestyle. These are products about which we’ve written reviews or own them ourselves and are the essentials for RVing.
A good number of the ideas on our Wish List are marked down for Cyber Monday. You can find our List of RV Basics here: https://amzn.to/3UegGTz
In summary
As affiliates of Amazon we get a tiny commission if you choose to buy something we have linked on the StressLess Camping website, including in this article. There is no additional cost to you but it helps support the work that we do.
But our commitment is to you so we wouldn’t put anything on any of our Amazon lists or make any recommendations of products that we don’t have and enjoy ourselves.
We hope you enjoy some of the items on this list and wish you all the best for the holidays and for the year to come. Thank you for being part of our world!
