A cool interactive National Parks calendar
What kind of calendar do you use to plan your adventures?
I am a big fan of calendars. If my desk would accommodate one, I’d have the type that covers the desktop and has a page for each month, so I could jot notes that I could see at all times.
Our life and our business involve driving back and forth across America with our RV to attend rallies, convention, and other gatherings. As such it is important for us to keep track of when and where we need to be.
It really is very convenient to have shared calendars in our cloud, so when either of us adds an appointment, the other can see it. This works best when looking at a one-day view on the phones, or perhaps one week on the computer screen.
But I like to see the “big picture” and be able to, without pushing any buttons, just look at a paper calendar and see everything together.
And as long as I am looking at a paper calendar, the experience is even better if I can look at pretty pictures at the same time.
The National Parks calendar from The Camp Life provides the monthly view with beautiful photos, and more. Each month a beautiful National Park is highlighted. In addition, there are QR codes where you can go beyond the printed information with your smart phone.
Something that took a minute to get used to is that this calendar’s weeks start on Monday and end on Sunday. It’s not typical, but I quickly learned that it’s really convenient for scheduling weekend trips. Monday through Thursday dates are written in black, and weekends: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, are in red.
In addition to the convenient large spaces to add events and travel plans, the calendar displays the birthdays of each of the National Parks. Plus, some outdoor-adventure-quirky holidays like National S’mores Day!
The QR codes offer a bunch of additional information. At least three codes appear each month with links to tips like finding the best trails or best avoiding the crowds.
Links to expert recommendations to help plan your National Parks vacation, where to find the best trails, pro tips like how to avoid the crowds at Arches NP, and the Do's and Don'ts in Yosemite National Park.
There are also links to original stories tell you when is the best time of year to visit each Park, what to expect for weather, and how to navigate around a pack-mule!
You'll learn where to go rafting, kayaking, climbing, camping, and where to take in the best views.
Additional QR links help you keep active with volunteer & educational organizations like “One Tree Planted”, or how to find nature-based events like a tree planting on Arbor Day.
After exploring all the perks of the calendar itself, you’ll be ready to add in your own plans. The great news is: this calendar has thick, matte-texture paper so your ink won’t smear when you write on it! Huge win!
