Today’s RV review is of the 2023 Winnebago Minnie 2630MLRK, a new couples’ camper that might be one of the better floor plans I’ve seen. But then I am biased to a certain extent.

If someone were to watch how my wife and I camp, they may have come up with the Winnebago Minnie 2630MLRK. In fact for a period of time we were actually considering custom building our own RV out of a cargo trailer and the floor plan on this trailer is somewhat similar to what we envisioned.

What’s hot

There are aspects of this floor plan that show that Winnebago has really been listening to the same people that I’ve been hearing from.

For starters, there’s a desk. But not just any desk. The counter on this trailer extends from the mid-ship doorway all the way to the back of the trailer. It’s huge enough that you could have some sort of banquet service in here.

Back in the corner a sink sits at a 45 degree angle with a lot of counter space around it and power outlets. For those who haven’t discovered the wonders of the Aeropress for RV coffee making, you could plug in the electrical stuff you want to accomplish that task.

RV ovens

Another interesting thing is that there is just a three-burner propane cook top, but not an oven. Unfortunately Winnebago’s website doesn’t make clear whether the oven is an option or not, but the video below from my friend Josh Winters indicates that it’s a possibility for later installation.

In more than one of the social media groups I belong to, including our own Facebook Group, people have frequently written that they just don’t use the oven in their RVs at all.

There is a convection microwave that comes with this rig which, I suspect, is going to serve many travelers well. For those that want a proper propane oven that can happen.

However for the majority of the people, at least in our own Facebook Group, who stated that they used the oven more for storage than anything else, here ya’ go!

Remember the desk?

I had mentioned the desk in this rig and it’s a really well thought-out design.

Over on the camp side under the existing counter is a pull-out desk. This trailer also comes with two free-standing folding chairs so you could use this surface for a desk, for dining or whatever.

On game nights you can put the desk in, turn the free-standing chairs around and have game night with four people. Nice.

There are two seating configurations available on this model, either a folding sofa or theater seats. Either way you get a plastic folding table as well which would be great for meals, games, or what not.

Where the desk is in this model is under the TV and I would be surprised if that TV didn’t have a second HDMI in, so now you could use that for your second computer monitor if you’re using a laptop.

Polarizing features

One of the things that I know is polarizing for some campers is the bathroom arrangement on this trailer. That bathroom bisects the trailer completely with the toilet and sink on the road side and the shower on the camp side.

I personally prefer this as it gives you two doors between the bedroom and the main living area so if you’re on different sleep schedules with your partner, you have less of a chance of waking them when you’re up writing RV reviews. Or whatever.

That bathroom is absolutely huge and is made to feel more so by a slightly taller ceiling than some trailers at 6’ 8” in height. Winnebago accomplished this by using low-profile air conditioners so they could quite literally raise the roof.

Sleep tight…ly

The bedroom that is in the front of this trailer sports a proper queen-sized bed but there’s more.

This trailer is a 50 amp unit so you can opt in a second air conditioner if you choose to. You could keep the bedroom extra cold on some of those humid nights by virtue of this space having its own AC.

I also really, really like the cubbies on either side of the bed. I’ve become accustomed to the cabinets in many trailers not extending fully to the nose of the trailer so that there is additional storage for things like CPAP or digital devices there at night.

But Winnebago includes two cubbies on either side as well as both USB and household power outlets. This is the best arrangement of bed-side storage I’ve seen.

Further, each side also has a drawer as well as hanging storage.

Oh, and thank you Winnebago. No windshield in the bedroom.

Griddle me this…

Outside the rig there are also some nifty things to take note of.

There is an outside kitchen that’s really a full kitchen as it includes a sink with hot and cold running water. It also includes a bar-sized mini fridge.

My favorite feature of this is a slide-out grill that also has a flat-top provision so you could grill or griddle depending on what you want to do.

Another outside-ish feature is the front pass-through storage which has a heat duct in it. This would keep things from freezing, which is a plus. Heating the front pass-through also has the side benefit of providing a bit of heat to the bedroom as the bed sits right atop the pass-through storage.

On the subject of heat ducts, Winnebago puts their furnace ducts up in the cabinets instead of cut into the floor so you won’t get that very special smell the first few times you kick on the heater toward the end of camping season.

The underbelly on this is also enclosed and heated.

Boondocking and travel access

This trailer provides near full access to the interior even with the slide room in. The only thing that’s a bit more difficult to get to would be the pantry at the very back, but this is totally no big deal considering how well you can get to the rest of the trailer.

There are also huge holding tanks with 60 gallons of fresh water plus two 49 gallon gray tanks (one for the bathroom, one for the kitchen).

As for solar it’s pretty minimal with just a single 200 watt panel standard. Winnebago has done such an exceptional job with their FLX models I would love to see that package available here, but it’s not at the moment.

At least there’s a 30 amp charge controller so if you did want to add additional solar panels it can be done without too much trouble.

What I would change

There isn’t much I’d change on this floor plan. It’s one of my favorite couples’ campers out there already. Of course to each their own, but this would absolutely suit my camping style. Almost.

First of all, I would dump the carpet in the slide in favor of a marine-grade material. Yuck to carpet in an RV.

There are Goodyear Endurance tire standard but I wish Winnebago had also made the tire pressure monitor system standard as well. There is a provision to put one in, but this is so worth having that I’d like it to be there for all.

If I were placing an order I don’t know if I’d want the outside kitchen. Instead, give me more storage. This rig has over a ton of cargo carrying capacity which is pretty impressive itself.

Oh, and lastly, when is the RV industry going to get rid of speakers on the outside of the RVs altogether? These are mounted up high so they perfectly annoy your neighbor who doesn’t like Jimmy Buffett music all day every day because they’re wrong.

Conclusions

I really, really like this floor plan. The fact that there’s a desk, a bathroom thaat bisects the interior, a real queen-sized bed with class-leading bedside storage and many other features make this one of my favorites.

If your RVing lifestyle includes getting some work done, or even needing a table to do puzzles on, this might be one of the best floor plans I’ve come across for that.
