The Minis take Michigan - 2023 Michigan Road Trip Day Two: The Henry Ford
August 20
Tony busted out the griddle and fried up some of the bacon we had stocked up on from Yoder’s Meat and Cheese Company in Shipshewana. Tony made omelets, too. We had a yummy breakfast, and Zappo had to help some of us finish.
Sunday Fun Day
We had a lot of work to catch up on, so when Bill got ready to head out to The Henry Ford, we made the sad decision to stay in camp and get caught up.
Even though we didn’t get to visit The Henry Ford today, we did get to see it last year so here are some favorite photos from that visit.
Doggy Sitting
Zappo couldn’t go to the museum either, so he stayed in camp with us. He is really terrific at spending time alone in the camper, so it’s not like we had a big job to do.
Zappo is such a great dog. He hung out with us for a while. Long enough to get a hot dog for a snack. Then he started talking to us. I put him on his leash to take him for a walk, and he went straight home and jumped up on the bed. He didn’t want to hang out with us; he preferred to rest at home!
Camp Etiquette
We are camped in the site next to Bill’s, and we were keeping an eye in that direction while Zappo was home alone. It’s amazing how many people cut through Bill’s site, then turn toward the lake where the actual road is. I don’t know how to subtly remind people to go around. Maybe I could share our article about campground etiquette.
Bill told me about the time he was in camp, listening to a podcast about etiquette, and watching out the window at someone who was breaking all of the rules!
Griddle, Griddle
Since the griddle was out from breakfast, we decided to make some burgers. Our friend Steve had given us a beautiful tomato, and we had delicious horseradish cheese, and gouda from Yoder’s Meat and Cheese Company.
We sat and chatted until the bugs came out, and then headed in for a rest before morning brings us another fun day of travel and exploration.
