Creamy Swiss Chicken Camping Recipe

Creamy Swiss Chicken Camping Recipe

I often find myself quoting the line from “Back Door Man” by The Doors: “I eat more chicken than any man ever seen.” We love chicken and eat it several times a week. Which means we like to find new chicken recipes.

Tony also commonly reminds me: “every meal needs sauce.”

So, when I find a delicious chicken recipe with sauce I know we have a real winner.

Add cheese to the equation and it all adds up to a meal we will be enjoying often.

Join me as I share an easy, delicious camp recipe for Swiss Chicken, featuring juicy chicken smothered in swiss cheese and a garlicy, creamy sauce. Oh, and I mustn’t forget to mention that it’s gluten free, low carb, and keto friendly!

Creamy

Between the sauce and the melty cheese, this recipe makes a beautiful, creamy, delicious topping for a piece of chicken. Our favorite is thighs and to be honest, I’ve made this recipe with bone-in thighs but I think it would be easier to eat if I used boneless chicken.

When I saw the sauce was a combination of mayonnaise, sour cream, parmesan, and garlic I knew we were going to love this.

There is something just really classic about a Swiss cheese and chicken combination that I find irresistible.

Camp cooking

When it comes to camping, preparing delicious meals can be a delightful challenge. Flavors seem to come more alive in the great outdoors, where adventures and appetites combine.

This recipe is sure to elevate your camp cooking game to new heights.

This easy chicken recipe is great for camping, because the chicken can be cooked by any method: grill, griddle, cast-iron skillet, RV oven, air-fryer - whatever you prefer.

Have it your way

We like our cheese and sauce nice and melty, with a little “cheese burn” on top. So we add the cheese and sauce right at the beginning of cooking. If you want it a bit less melty or browned, just add the cheese and sauce later, like about 10-15 minutes before the chicken is cooked. It will have time to melt but not to get the scorch marks.

Whether you're camping in the mountains, by a serene lake, or nestled in a peaceful forest, this recipe will make your outdoor dining experience unforgettable.

Safety first

Don’t forget that an internal temperature of 165°F indicates that the chicken is thoroughly cooked. You don’t want to eat undercooked chicken, especially when you are camping!
