Honest review of Golden Shore RV resort in Long Beach, CA
This is an honest review of the Golden Shore RV Resort in Long Beach, California. Golden Shore RV Resort features just under 80 sites right on the ocean in Long Beach, California.
Most of the sites feature full hook-ups with quite a number of the sites being able to accommodate larger RVs.
The park is very well maintained with the sites being covered in compacted sand surrounded by paved roads. There is a large grass space right down the middle of the park which makes it feel very welcoming and there are plenty of very well-manicured bushes and palm trees throughout the space.
Amenities at Golden Shores RV Park
There are a lot of reasons we really like this park including the fact that there is a jetted community hot tub - one of our favorite RV park features. There is also a large swimming pool, laundry facility, well-maintained bath houses and a dog run.
The park has a camp store, of course, which is decent.
What’s there to do in Long Beach, California
This park offers immediate access to an incredible array of activities. You could bicycle to things like Shoreline Village where we went to the Yard House, a really great taproom with an extensive menu of food and beer and first-rate service. After that you could stroll around this beachside shopping center and take in all that type of place has to offer.
There is also the Aquarium of the Pacific which is an outstanding collection of sea creatures in beautifully crafted enclosures. There are regular presentations where the entire atrium of the building is transformed into an immersive audiovisual experience. This is a great place to visit and made more so if you have younger people to take there.
Something I also enjoy is the Queen Mary. This landmark ocean liner is currently undergoing some major renovations and this poor ship seems to ebb and flow more than the local tides in terms of funding and popularity. Still, it’s a beautiful ship and they have one of the best brunches I’ve ever been to on Sundays. Don’t miss this.
There is much more here and Long Beach is a thriving and dynamic place. It’s also quite bicycle friendly so bring your bikes along.
However, one of the things we got with check-in was a warning about the rampant bike thefts in the area provided by the local police in Long Beach. We originally intended to ride our Lectric eBikes around but, after seeing that notice, we chose not to. That’s a bummer.
Unfortunately, like many larger metropolitan areas, Long Beach is plagued by crime and homelessness with the beautiful weather in the area being a big reason to live in a tent on the street.
Conclusions
This is one of the few RV parks in Southern California smack dab in the middle of a larger city. With the value of land in LowCal, RV parks are not the first thing developers think of and the ocean of high rise buildings right near this RV park are a testament to that.
It’s also right within sight of the Long Beach harbor where there is a tremendous amount of activity going on with ships, trains and cranes for shipping containers. It’s not intrusive at all but it’s right there.
You have to be mindful bringing your RV to this park only because it’s right off a major street so you could miss it, but you can go back around and try again. There is also a long enough driveway to accommodate your RV so you’re not sticking out into the road. Funny thing, though, the gate here moves so slowly you could easily bypass the thing as it sloooooooowly slides open.
Funny thing, the bike lanes we had mentioned around here are wide enough that I accidentally turned onto the bike lane with our trailer rather than the actual road. Oops. The marks on the curb made me think I wasn’t the first to do so nor would I be the last.
