Tony & Peggy Barthel - StressLess Campers

Greetings!

We’re Tony & Peggy Barthel and we’re working to help you be a StressLess Camper.

A couple days in Texas with other Mini Lites

Another driving day

But not a terrible one today. We started with an alarm clock. Peggy set the alarm so she could get a load of laundry done before we headed southward. She showered in the bathhouse while the laundry was going. How’s that for multi-tasking!

Mini Lites to the left and right

Tony shows off his Rockwood gear at the South Llano River State Park rally

It was a fairly good driving day; about 200 miles and the wind was way calmer than the day before. We arrived in the afternoon at South Llano State Park in Texas for the Mini Lite Rally. It was hot and humid! The temperature got to about 100 degrees today. We set up camp and turned on the air conditioner right away, so the trailer would be comfortable for sleeping.

We are part of about a dozen Rockwood Mini Lite and Flagstaff Micro Lite trailers. The organizers planned a lot of fun activities for us. This afternoon we recorded a podcast episode. We didn’t really have an agenda; we just played it by ear.

Texas BBQ

We went back into the town of Junction, Texas today for some BBQ. Lum’s BBQ was highly recommended, and boy howdy it sure was good! We shared a plate with three meat choices. We had ribs, pork loin, and brisket. For sides we chose mac & cheese (of course Peggy chose that!) and creamed corn. We did not choose spicy spaghetti, though we were really curious about it. Apparently it’s served cold, and with cayenne pepper in the sauce. The man behind the counter said it would clear our sinuses! Tony, naturally, had sweet tea.

Peggy keeps planning

Peggy was back on RV Trip Wizard again, finalizing plans for the end of May and early June. She made a boo-boo and had a driving day of 450 miles - she sure scrambled to fix that one!

Tell Rover come on over

We were asked to submit a paragraph to the website RoverPass in the article “Unlocking the Secrets of RV travel: Experts, Insights and Advice.” There were some nifty thing shared there by a number of people in the RV space, including us.

There were some pretty nifty tips in that article altogether. Let us know what you think in the comments below.

First Official Day of the Rally

Since we were having too much fun to post on Friday, we will add those activities here.

The weather was much more pleasant. It was sort of overcast, but at least the heat was tempered.

We gathered at our campsite and recorded this week’s podcast. We have publicly now, made a commitment to begin making video podcasts. What more fun way to start than with a whole group of friends?

We all talked about the mods and trips we have made with our Mini Lites. We tried to be fairly general, so the non Mini-owners wouldn’t feel left out.

After a dinner break, we met for a game of RV white elephant. We each brought an RV gadget or gift and took turns choosing a gift to unwrap, and stealing the more popular gifts from one another. We had three different items before the end, and ended up with a temperature and humidity monitor which will come in really handy.

After the game, we returned to our site where we hung our spandex screen and set up our XGimi projector. People gathered around and we watched Robin Williams in the movie “RV.” It was a great way to end the day!

Heck no, we don't want to go!
